“ I am from Calgary and was visiting Vancouver over the weekend. Last night I visited Sushi California downtown location with my boyfriend. I am not one to leave reviews but I could not stop thinking about my experience at Sushi California. This is the best sushi I have ever had (I have had sushi at many different restaurants in Vancouver and in the US). When we arrived for our reservation they had hot, delicious, house made tea waiting for us at the table. The servers were extremely friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was clean and fancy and the music wasn’t too loud. The salmon was extremely delicious and fresh with insane portions for the good price. My boyfriend and I had our jaw to the floor when we saw how much edamame beans comes in the order. The shrimp tempura was also huge and very flavourful with an amazing sauce on the side. The rolls were only 4 for insane portions of salmon. This will definitely be my go to sushi spot when I come to Vancouver, and I may have to make another trip out soon. ”

“ This place was amazing! Their menu is very diversified and expansive. We had a wonderful server, Seohee, who was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We asked for her recommendations and she hit it out of the park. The food was incredibly fresh and tastefully delicious. Overall, it was a great experience filled a terrific value, excellent dine in service and ambiance. ”

“ I used to order Sushi California for delivery years ago, and it never disappointed! Now they’ve opened a new branch on Thurlow and I’m very glad for it because it’s situated so close to Shangri-La hotel (literally 1 block down). Can’t ever go wrong with: California combo, wild salmon sashimi, beef teriyaki roll, yam and prawn tempura. Didn’t like the Unagi Ten roll, the asparagus threw off the entire dish. Won’t be ordering it again. Service was impeccable, the servers were so friendly and all smiles the entire night! My daughter loved everything. Highly recommend! ”

“ I ordered the salmon sashimi, Crunch house roll, and Spicy tuna cheese tempura roll, and they were all unbelievably delicious. The salmon, in particular, was incredibly thick, fresh, and tasty, yet surprisingly affordable, which really amazed me... Also, our server, Joy, was always smiling and provided such kind and friendly service. The service and food were both perfect. I think this is the best sushi restaurant in Canada!!!! ”

“ Fanciest Sushi California location that I’ve been. Prices are on par with the locations in the suburbs.Same menu items can be found as well and the quality is consistent. Good, relatively inexpensive Japanese food and not too far from transit. It was not busy when we went on a Tuesday for dinner. ”
